Exclamation 2.3 owners, need your suggestions - rod to block clearence

4G64 100mm crank/Manley H beam rods. do every 2.3 stroker with thicker rods require notching the block like in this vid of E9 engine ? or it depends on model (E4 if it matters)

It depends, you should always check. Mine with Eagle H-beams needed no clearance.

Every block is different. Mine needed notching on one of the cylinders but the rest of them were fine. Always good to get it checked by the machine shop.

so as I guess it depends on just individual block casting, not model or year dependent

any more inputs are welcome, the statistics is kinda interesting

yep i have carrillo H beam pro's in mine and they require a 'clearance channel' so to speak. Pretty common done on V8u's when changing to a stroker set up.

I know some people here in Australia said I'd never be able to fit the H beam pro's in a stroker.

Ask Lucas Gudagni and Chad Block, they have done and do, it works.

I never had a problem with any block that has had this done either.

I've built one and assembled two other 2.3 shortblocks with the Manley h-beams, and none required clearancing. The i beams on the other hand will need some block massaging.
