Necessary to notch block in a 2.4 L LR setup?

So me and my friend spent about 6+ hours carefully measuring and assembling my 4g64 LR setup to find out that when we installed rods/pistons 1 and 4. That they hit the sleeve after being rotated. Block is a 7bolt 4g64 out of a 01 galant.
I am really frustrated at the moment. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks guys.

I didn't have sleeves put in, but my 2.4 LR hit on either the 2 or 3 cylinder, on the side of the block. I notched it with an air grinder and spent like 2 hours cleaning the block out again.

The oem blocks aren't sleeved. Are you asking about needing to clearance the bottom of the cylinder bore? If so, then I did not need to using Maperformance ultimate duty rods. Some rods and some blocks need extra clearance on the side of the block, but I don't think any need it at the cylinder bore.

Just came home and took a closer look. THE RODS ARE CLEARLY HITING THE BOTTOM OF THE cylinder bore.

Figured out the problem. Piston sits 6 mm above deck. Wrong pistons.

That makes sense. Sucks about having to order new parts though.

I ordered them trough a shop in town. Specifically said 87mm pistons for a long rod 4g64 with 156mm rods. Hoppefully something gets worked out on Monday.
