HKS 7460R or FP Green/BBK Full

I started to look into this turbo because I plain out love fast spooling turbos, with my mods this turbo should be above 400hp which is in the vicinity of my power goals I also do autox occasionally so i would never need a 600hp monster.. Which is all fine and dandy BUT...

I have heard stories about hearing the turbo have a slight spool from idle on 2.0 blocks.. Since im running a 2.3 i really don't care much for sexy turbo spool well under 3k much less idling, nor the fact another owner says it could surge like a hipster movement on a 2.3 stroker..

At the moment my mods are pretty much built 2.3 stroker on an 8 turbo + fully tuned in suspension

should I go for something slightly bigger like a bb green or bb full? Or stick with a turbo that will more than dominate autox and small tracks? Should i even aim for a bigger turbo than the mentioned 3? This might seem like an easy choice to everyone but I'm really at a loss.

I did the HKS on e85 and got 480whp 490wtq. Instant spool too!
Went from a journal black 542whp 46Xwtq. I'm glad I switched too!!

hks-bbk-hta g in that order.
bbk full would be my choice. hks can have surge issues with no anti-surge cover available

I have the HKS about 12k miles on it, the spool is realy fast, no surge issues, I put down 407whp ~ 394wft-lbs @25psi 93 octane on a really hot day (102°) stock intake and exhaust manifolds

So nice when wtq is similar to whp. Unlike others with 10-20% difference
Must feel like a ****ing beast

I've had the HKS for 1.5 years now with a few track event without any issues. Basically, it's a stock evo9 turbo on steroids. It's a great turbo for low/mid range power.

On 93 pump gas

For a 2.3 I think your best bet would be the CBRD Ball Bearing B with anti-surge cover. Imo no anti-surge cover for the HKS and reports of it surging makes it a deal breaker. Plus CBRD will actually get you sorted out if you have issues with their products. Now that HKS has closed its US operations, good luck with any warranty work. Give them a call and tell them your goal and ask what they can do for you.

As mentioned, I don't know how you would be able to service an HKS turbo and the kind of time that would take.
Same goes for the FP turbos and their availability.
I'd go CBRD BBK-Full Journal Bearing, or BBK-B-Ball Bearing with Anti-surge housing.

I'm on stock turbo btw and so I'm going off of research and personal experience close friends have had with these companies.

can you even get the HKS 7460R. Last time I checked a few months ago with Iveytune. I was told they don't have any in stock and don't know when they would be getting more in.

I made more power with the HKS7460 than all of you suckers. 488whp :P

I would run the BB-BBK-Full w/anti-surge cover or the FP-BB-HTA Green w/anti-surge cover.

The HKS will surge. The turbine housing is smaller than a stock one cut for a bigger wheel. I wouldn't own the HKS again simply because of the surge.

The HKS has only shown surge issues when running e85 right?
