FP GREEN 73HTA or FP Green BB

I can't make up my mind which turbo to go with. I have a MAP 2.3 with the works. I plan on going to the track a few times, but this is my street car to take down to the beach. My stock turbo hits full boost at 2400. I want to stay as close as I can to that and still make 500whp on E85. Who all are running these turbos. Whats your thoughts?

Well you can't purchase new HTA Greens and the design of the BB is meant to improve spool time. Therefore, it seems the BB Green aould fit you and should put you near your goals.

You should also give a good look into CBRD's BB BBK-B. Results have shown it spools the same as the JB BBK Full. It would also easily get you to 500awhp. Good luck!

BBK does look good! The HTA73 doesn't show out of stock or anything on FP's site?

Yes you can still get journal bearing HTA Greens, FP might not sell them to you but you can still get them through vendors like spec ops. BTW the BB version is still a HTA 73 the only difference is the center section JB vs BB, the compressor and turbine wheels are still the same, so your gonna make the same power.

Isn't 500whp maxing this turbo out?

Pretty much. However the OP is on a 2.3 motor and e85. That is why I suggested the BB BBK-B. Faster spool and can obtain 500. The surge covers are recommended for motors on the BB BBK-B on a larger displacement engine by the way.

We've done 530 relatively easy. Curt Brown isnt typical results but he did over 600whp.

My friend, which turbo are you referring to? I, too, am much like the OP and trying to decide which would be the better stock frame turbo for my MAP 2.4LR engine. I will be running pump/100 as my fuel of choice.

By "pump/100" what exactly did you mean? Did you mean 50% pump gas will be blended with 50% 100 octane race gas? If so, and we are blending 100 R.O.N. race gas with, for example 93 octane R.O.N. pump gas at 50% then you would be always running a 96.5 octane R.O.N. blend. And, also, are we talking about 93, 92. or 91 octane pump gas?

Or alternately, did you mean that you would have two switchable ECU maps, one map for straight 100 octane race gasoline and the other for straight pump gas?

By "pump/100" what exactly did you mean? Did you mean that you intend to blend pump gas with 100 octane race gas fifty-fifty? Furthermore, are we talking about 93, 92. or 91 octane pump gas? Or, did you mean that you intend to have two alternate, switchable ECU maps, one for straight 100 octane race gas and the other for straight pump gas?

DBB Green HTA73 is the bees knees! Especially on a 2.3/2.4L motor.

You've already got a MAP engine, why not try a MAP turbo?
I'm sure they will be happy to have a loyal customer back, you could even ask for a discount!

Cheers, Mike
