Transfer case removal question
Transfer case removal question
After changing out the clutch I seem to have some fluid leaking out of the top side of the transfer case. I plan on pulling it again but I wasn't sure if I needed to pull both axles to do this. Can I drop the t-case with only removing the passenger axle?
There is a shaft that's inside the tcase that connects it to the transmission that can only come out after the driver side axle is out of the way, so yes you have to take out both axles to drop the tcase. It's easy though. If you changed out the clutch, then you know what I'm talking about. That's kinda strange for fluid to be leaking out of the top of the tcase though unless you have an ACD tcase.

The transfer case has a vent. A little white bulb looking vent that will leak if you overfilled the transfercase. I wish I could have seen it before I pulled the axles for the third time though :-/
