hks ssqv compression surge
hks ssqv compression surge
im pretty sure im getting compression surge becos when the bov goes off it makes ther wootwootwoot sound.. currently have it vac lines ran at t one going to intake manifold through the metal stock lines that run across the valve cover to the intake manifold ( just havent taken all the stock crap off yet) and the other down to the other that goes to the waste gate T w the lower incooler pipe.. is this wrong?
what am i doing wrong here..
i don't need any funny guys just tryin to fix an obvious mistake..
heres a pic

This valve should not be VTA (vent to atmosphere), it needs to be recirculated, even then you should go back to the stock valve unless you're running insane PSI. That being said, it looks like your UICP will not allow you to recirculate from where the valve is positioned, you might be able to get a hose run back to the intake but it's going to be ugly.
so your saying that VTA on stock PSI isnt enough to push the spring open fully on a HKS? therefore causing the wootwootwoot sound compression surge really? so everyone on youtube w this setup isnt running stock boost then? what bov is going to be better for vta?
dp you think i may have a vacume leak and thats why maybe its not opening.. any one have nething to add here?
heres a clean up pic i shortened the vac lines to maybe help..

the only concern i have is this pos cupler.. it needs to been a little longer.. the UIPC is a bit bigger than the factory one and the angle its at it fits weird.. could this be why the bov isnt going off cos im losing pressure at this cupler?

My HKS ssqv4 surges bad. I have to be over 12psi and let off the gas fast for it to work right. If I ease off the throttle at all it sputters and surges. And the HKS I believe was designed to be VTA, not recirculated. Mine works best VTA, It doesn't open towards the intake. When I recirc that's when it gets worse, the vacuum from the intake seems to screw with it.
I say if you don't wanna switch setups and you haven't already, get a full 3" turbo back and a good tune. The open downpipe and no cat will let your turbo spool faster. If you get on it at all you should be over 12psi and the HKS usually works ok.

what do u do with the vac line coming from the waste gate just elim the T from the wastegate to the lowerintercooler piper and run directly to it the lower intercooler pipe

im starting to think this style bov was meant for higher boosts or something because at low psi u can tell its barely opening and at full psi its barely open.. im just trying to fig out if these lines are the problem, or just the BOV.. it was brand new so i doubt its faulty..
But back to your setup. I numbered them to make it simple for me.
What is line 3 and were does it lead to? This could be the problem.
When I routed my lines, I just had line 1 connected straight to the BOV. Try just routing line 1 straight to the BOV and get rid of line 2 and 3.
Brace your self, it's bad. This was the only way I could hook the damn thing up at the time.

I don't know why you have it routed to the intake too.

im on stock psi and it doesn't give me any problems only when i let off the throttle slowly. the thing with VTA is the stock ecu is automatically gonna compensate for the recirc air thinking your on the stock BOV and add alot of gas so when you release all that pressure, you smell gas and it acts like its going to stall for a second, nothing a tune and speed density cant change.
My friend has this on his STi with stock turbo and stock boost (15psi I think is stock) and it works just fine. Just leaks.... A LOT.

next thing im going to do is elim line line that goes into the T at the wate gate from the lower intercooler piper run it direct to the waste gate
then run vac line from BOV to intake mani
thoughts?
