hi there im getting ready to build again and i was wondering if my act hdss clutch would really handle the power of a 2.4 lr with 274 cams and fp red. my power goals are 400 -500 ft lbs of tq... i know about the lock out issue , but im not going to be tracking it or launching it. any info will help. thanks

With a street disc.........no. If you call ACT they will tell u what their disk or 6 puck and pressure plate combos will hold. They told me a street disc and xtreme pressure plate hold like 450 tq or so and the hd plate is less like 415 wtq or something, but with a 2.3 stroker on a red u will easily be over that. I'm going with a quartermaster 8-leg, they grab and shift like woah

 

the only reason i asked on the act is because on the clutch description they claim 565 ft/lb on the xtreme pp with the street performance disc, so i figuered why not for the price.

 

I'm sure any power number claimed for any manufacturer is at the Flywheel unless noted. Either way ACT is garbage. At the very least go Exedy Twin HD or be ballen and get a Triple

 

yeah i was going with either act or exedy , but now people have me thinking about competition clutches.. not trying to be cheap but for the price and the good news ive been hearing about these you cant go wrong with it

 

I used an act for the first 1500 miles on my built 2.3 w/fp red, because I thought it would he fine, but I was wrong, should have just gone with the quartermaster from the start. I can now shift with confidence. And its so much quicker, on the down side, its very noisy.

 

not an evo, but i ran an xtss on my 35r sti and it held over 500lb/ft at the wheels and lasted a long time.
