Transmission advice needed

So my first gear is blown, possibly my second also. I dont want to ship out my transmissoon, because I'm about to take it to a shop I trust a lot, but they've only done a couple evos. I would like to know what the optimal rebuild would be.

My car is an 03 and as far as I know the tranny is stock. I've heard to swap in an ix 1/2/5. But I've also heard the ix 5th is too short for daily driving. Which gears should I use?

Another option I've heard of is a 4.11 final drive. Is this too aggressive for a street driven car that won't see over 500hp?

Any opinions are more than welcome.

Thanks!

The ultimate ratio transmission is evo 9 1st, 2nd and 5th and evo 8 3rd and 4th This keeps the car in the best "sweet spot" between gears for tracking the car. The 4.11 would be for like big power or standing mile, u wouldn't want it performance wise, its like an 800 dollar option as well. I had shep do mine and no complaints.

Do you have the evo 9 5th in a 5 speed? Whats your crusing RPM at about 65-70MPH?

Depending on the damage inside your transmission you might have to replace more than just the gears.

Yeah I understand that. I'm just trying to get the gears I want before they open her up

A 4.11 is prefereable if you want to have a higher mph per rpm/gear. This would be because you either have maxed out 4th in the quarter and want to go faster, have a 100mm stroke engine or if you just want the convenience of a lower rpm at cruising speeds (not necessarily a smart decision...).

I see. Looks like the 4.11 is out of the question for me.

I would still like the input of someone that has an ix 5th in their 5 speed though

The shop I'm having do it may be interested in doing evos all the time depending on how my trans turns out and if they think they can compete with prices around town. Ill let you know how it goes.

Appriciate you going out and doing that. It doesn't look too bad on gas mileage. 200rpm increase @ 65mph.
