i have also read this post by STM.
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ve...ooler-kit.html
which seems to be closed now for some reason
i was wondering if anybody had hands on experience with this unit or upgraded oil coolers in general. does it make that big of a difference? Any test results?
how about the mounting of this particular unit? I see that STM fabbed their own mount. does this mean i wouldnt need the stock cooler brackets at all?

The hole or deleting it? Haha...If you are talking about the hole, probably a rock or something hit it. To delete it, all you need to do is remove everything & find 2 plugs that fit where the return & feed lines thread in and bam done. For a drag race only car, an oil cooler really isn't needed, weigh reduction!
I bought the Setrab one from MAP.....its a lot bigger then stock, so i'm assuming it'll be a lot better...and its a good brand...also a bit more then the STM one in that link.
I'm sure that one will be fine, can't see it being worse.

Yea for the hole something pierced it could see it clear as day.
As for deleting it bought these

I made my own kit from summit and used a larger Longacre/B&M cooler (albeit i am using an Evo8 OFH on an Evo3). My fittings are push fit but you get the idea.

(don't mind the mess)

I realize everything is on the "wrong" side for you guys but you get the idea
I am not sure about how low the Evo 4-9 oil pan sits but on my Evo3 the 90* fitting is a almost at the same level with the bottom of the pan
I think a 120* fitting would have given me slightly more clearance. Batinc sells the metric banjo to -AN hose fittings but they are pricey. If you track the car...whats $80 extra for your oil supply?
Oil cooler BMM-70266, $76
-8AN to 1/2" NPT straight adapter FRA-481688 $6 each (you need 2)
18x1.5mm to -8AN fittings FRA-460818, $4 each (you need 2 as well as 2 18mm crush washers)
Hose ends and hose of your choice
