So I have the Injen intake piping, and now need a new air filter. What air filters do you guys run? Idk why, but my air filter seems to be a hair too long and is sitting right on a bolt. This over time rubbed and caused a small hole to form in the bottom. I looked for an HKS filter, but none were 4.5 inches in diameter (Inlet). The current filter I have now is 4.5 in Inlet, and 5 inches long.

 

Also, If I got a universal K&N filter that is much shorter, would I loose much power? For example going from a 5 inch height to a 3.5 inch height

 

There was a thread on filter choices. They did dyno runs and found Perrin and Amsoil air filters were better than the alternatives. Unsure about size or what bolt you are talking about. Pictures would help.

 

perrin best power, amsoil best filter + "most impressive" according to the test if I'm not mistaken.

 

Ended up going for another amsoil. Will post pics soon.
