Turbo Howling
Turbo Howling
Well my turbo is howling, there is no smoke or anything just makes the sound. Took the intake off and yup shaft play and can see where the blades are scraping a little. Hope its safe to limp the car home so I can take it off and drain the oil. Arggg this sucks.
Installed in September, drove for about a month then my engine harness went. Car sat till last Saturday, changed the oil before I got it started. Drove fine all weekend, then this morning I noticed the howling and limped it home instantly. So id say the turbo had about 4500 miles on it.
Called up Chad today and spoke with him and hes taking care of me. By far the best customer service I can ask for in this situation. Had the turbo off the car and shipped off to CBRD before lunch time.
Right now still don't know the cause of the failure but we will know in a few days. CBRD is always on top of this type of thing so I'm not too worried about it. I still have my Stock IX turbo; never could figure out why people sell their turbos when they upgrade , especially when things like this happen. Im very confident CBRD will take care of me as they have done so for many others.
Ran 1 tank of E-85 for the tune at 28 psi, the rest of the time its been on 93/91 at 22 psi for safety reasons, I daily drive my car like a baby rarely getting on it, mostly highway miles. I have a Civic Si to get around in so the Evo is just my little weekend toy.
In the end , oh well BBK-B-BB is in my future either way it turns out. Still need to figure out why it failed tho.
