Exclamation transmission problems please help!

hey everyone i recently had my 6 speed tranny taken out of my 05 mr and had a 5 speed conversion put in with a new clutch and the tranny was a rebuilt 03 tranny i bought from a reliable guy but im having some problems with it and i was wondering if anyone could tell me whats wrong or what i can do to fix them before i go back to him.

1-1st gear wine kinda loud between 1000-2500 rpms, i was afraid it was my transfer case but he told me that it def. isnt and that the wine will go away, its just making that noise because its new is this true?

2-4th gear wine (its a wine that sounds like when a car goes over a steel grate bridge and a pretty fast speed if anyone knows what that sounds like) and thats between 1500 and 3000 rpms.

3- i had a perrin short shifter put in too and its pretty stiff when shifting, and when i shift into 4th gear around 4000rpms it basically kicks me out and when trying to get out of 4th at 3000 rpms i have to like shove it out of 4th.

4- 5th gear theres like a faint pulsating grinding noise when cruising at 3000 rpms.

if anyone has had these problems or could tell me whats causing these problems please help. thanks.

the first gear whine is most likely normal, if I recall first and reverse whine because they are straight cut but I could be mistaken. Mine makes a whine in first and your 6spd should have also.

I can't tell you about 4th gear whine but it sounds like it could be a transfer case problem. See if it whines in 5th at the same road speed as 4th if it does then it is t-case, if not then it might be something with the tranny.

If your having problems shifting it could be your clutch is not disengaging fully but this would produce issues in all gears I would think.

After reading number 5 it sounds like either something go screwed up putting the tranny in or the tranny was bad to begin with. Sadly the only way to really know is to pull it out and crack it open and then know what your looking for. Who did the rebuild?

Evo transmissions can be damaged during install if you let it hang on the input shaft, it can warp the clutch plates or damage the shaft/other internals. Good luck to you but the only way to fix these problems is probably having the clutch and tranny removed, inspected, and repaired. Hope this helped!

When i drove my friend's gsr, there is whine but not loud. Idk how loud you are talking about. What tranny fluid are you using it? And clutch?

well i did some research on my short shifter and it turns out when its in its shortest setting its really stiff so i moved it up not even an 1/8 of an inch and its a night and day difference. and for the 5th gear thing it seems to have gone away it was there for 2 days and not gone so hopefully its gone for good.

akeric thanks for the response, it doesnt make any wine in the 5th gear. so far the only problems i have with the car now are the wines in 1st gear and 4th gear. the wines are about twice as loud as the wines in my 6 speed but looking at all the death wine vids. on youtube its not that bad so i dont know if it was that. 1 thing i can think of is the manual says to chance the front dif fluid every 10,000 miles and i havent changed mine for about 15,000 miles does anyone think this could solve the problem?

and the clutch is a competition stage 3 clutch

I doubt the fluid would be making the noise, but you should still change it. glad to hear it was the shifter and not something more serious.
