Spark Plug Question

For some odd reason it is very difficult to find info on plugs on ths forum that doesn't contradict other threads, vendors' sites, etc.... So stupid questions:

What is the difference between the NGK BR8EIX and the BPR8EIX? Some vendor sites list one, some list the other and NGK indicated they are two different models (so it is not merely a vendor typo).

Also, what is the stock plug gapping?

And, what should the above plugs (BR8EIX/BRP8EIX) be gapped at?

That should about cover it.

Thanks for the help!

The "P" stands for protruding tip. I'm not 100% on the stock gap so I won't guess. But once you turn up the boost you will have to bring it down to .022.

While asking all sorts of rookie questions, so why use the protruding tip vs not?

And I would assume at 25lbs I'd be in that .022 spot.

The EVO specialist I go to recommend the following for your EVO8:
BPR7EIX - for boost below 20PSI
BPR8EIX - for boost 20-25PSI
BPR9EIX - for boost 20-28PSI

The NGK Iridiums are pre gapped correctly so don't adjust the gap just get the correct model for your application.

BR8EIX is half a step colder than BPR8EIX

or go copper and change them regularly. it has to be the easiest maintenance in the world to change spark plugs on a I-4 motor. I change every other oil change. Coppers are like $1.50 if you arent even buying in bulk i think
