E-01 & emanage
E-01 & emanage
ok I like most of you have been watching all the talk on engine management lately... now I would like to know of anyone who is using the greddy profec E-01 and emanage combo... my friend says that he can get me both for $400 bucks brand new... so first of anybody using these speak up tell me what you like and dislike... it just seems like a good deal... as far as computers go I would say that things like emanage UTEC and EXEDE are pretty much the farthest you could go before going with full standalones like AEM or such... and as for boost controllers I would say the greddy kit seems to do plenty for me... but maybe not as much as the HKS evc...(but I would say its in the ballpark of performance)... so lets hear opinions to buy them both for $400 bucks or no...

I say No.
Hey, what's up bro. You know what I'd tell ya. You were at Carlsbad when I did 110.97 with just the xede, exhaust, and cam gears. I haven't seen many folks with such minimal mods do better. The UTEC isn't quite out yet. It may end up being better than the xede but I'd wait and let others be the guinea pigs. Also, Secret Chimp just locked down a thread were rraulston wasn't too happy to get beat by a stock Evo. He had HKS evc, exhaust, and intake. I don't know much about e-manage. I think I would get a reflash if I was limited to $400 bucks.

THat is an incredible price. The E-01 and E-Manage work awesome together and rival what the Xede can do in terms of flexibility and features. I've gotten 40 whp gain on the dyno with just E-01, E-Manage and an intake.
ok well...

hey man, I would love to get the EXEDE but its 895+100(flash)+200(dyno time) = 1195... plus a 6 hour drive for a custom tune because of my intake... thats a lot especially when the emanage and e01 do pretty much everything that the exede does... like I said I think this is one of the best units before taking the big leap to AEM 1500-1600... my thought would be why buy the EXEDE or UTEC when the AEM is right there... but thats just me and I have to play with that for 500 weeks straight...
guru-
are you happy with yours... and do you think it still has some tuning left or do you think thats all you will get out of it...(not that that isnt a good number already...) also are the display "guages" actually usable... I was thinking of using as a boost guage until mine comes in... and lastly is there anything you particularly like or dislike about it???

What is all of the necessary equipment one would need for the E-Manage? I understand there is an assortment of harnesses.
I've got someone offering me a brand-new E-Manage for 250 from a 350Z TT kit.

the emanage unit by itself works similar to the SAFC unit. it basically alters the airflow meter signal to the ecu, causing the ecu to vary its signal to the injectors. once you install the injector harnesses, you have the option of directly altering the injector signals with its maps, as well as using the emanage's conversion for injectors if you choose to go with larger injectors. the ignition harness allows for option of altering ignition signals to advance of retard the ignition using its maps. the pressure sensor option allows the emanage maps to become 3d, using boost as the third dimension parameter. if you don't have a laptop to use to map the emanage, the E01 allows you to have access to the maps, tho it will be a little more complicated to use.

nonmature,
yes i've used the emanage myself. my brother has it on his car and i've helped him tune it a few times sitting in the passenger seat as he drives. there are really nice functions that the emanage have that i've never seen before on other EMS's. one for example is a feature that allows you to select corner points in within a range of the map, push a button and it'll smoothen out the entire field within that range for you. ...guess that's a lil hard to understand...but it makes things sooo much easier when tuning. i'm planning to get it myself soon along with the harnesses and sensors. for me at least, its the most worthwhile setup with the goals i have in mind.

Here's what you'll need:
E-01
E-Manage ECU
Timing harness
Optional are:
E-Manage software (you can tune it with E-01 but it's not as easy to do)
USB cable to link them together (required if no software). STandard A B USB
Boost pressure sensor harness for E-01 to E-Mange (links the boost sensor from E-01 to the E-Manage so that the E-Manage can read boost)
Optional harness (allows you to read sensor data off car and read it on E-01 screen
You can also feed the data from one Greddy warning gauge and have it read on the E-01 as well. I did this with an EGT gauge on the 350Z TT kit I did last week. Worked out nicely and I can log that data with everything else.
THe units are fantastic and work very well. As for how much gains it can reach it depends in the mods. As you do more, the gains wil be greater. I like the injector calibration software (although it's not really accurate so you''ll have to tune it out with an OBD II scan tool or wideband). The features are unbeatable and so is the price.

ok now I have a couple more questions how about the Emanage by itself... granted I would need
injector harness
pressure sensor and harness
ignition harness
to be able to controll everything with out the E01(minus boost and other boost controller features)
it would still work rahter well with our cars with just a standard MBC as well correct???

nonmature,
no reason why not. with the pressure sensor, it just allows you to create a map based on both rpm and throttle position, with the addition of the pressure axis making it 3d. whether you have a ebc or mbc makes no difference as its based on the boost the engine is recieving.
as far as datalogging...i forget the specifics, but you can datalog multiple readings, starting with rpm, airflow, throttle position then as you add the harnesses(ignition, injector, pressure) you can increase to ignition timing retard or advance as well as correction, injector duty cycle and pulse and correction, and pressure( in mmHg, kpa, voltage, etc). plus u can save it all....up to 3hours i believe.

thats a great price... te combo works great for me. If you get your car fully dyno tuned you can tune very easily and get the most from tuning. The screen for the boost controller is sweet, everyone thinks it is DVD.
