Weird Turbo noise

Hey guys just purchased my first Evo and i LOVE IT!! It is a 2003 Evo 8 87k miles and just about all stock. Has a full exhaust, Newer Evo 9 turbo and a Manual boost controller. The problem i am having is every time i hit any boost at all it starts to whine. It sounds 100% supercharger. Now the turbo is the newest part on the car and does not leak, sound like a deathwhine, does not do it when i am letting off the gas or any other time. only when i hit boost. Does not lagg or lose bost. Tested for a boost leak and could not find one.

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP! lol
Thanks guys

check for shaft play in and out on the turbo. Sounds like you have turbo failure.

Have you done a boost leak test? Could just be one of couplers making some noise as air pushes past it.

You will likely find a boost leak either where the J pipe attaches to the turbo or where J Pipe attaches to the LICP.

Common issue

Yea i hooked a compressor up to it and did a pretty thourough test and did not hear the same noise at all, or feel/hear a leak anywhere. Like it literally sounds like i have the nicest supercharger on the car lol. So you guys think thats a coupler going from the turbo to intercooler could be bad/loose? Could i bad intercooler cause this? mine has a dent in the bottom.

So you performed a boost leak test on the car?? Using a tester like this http://www.modernperformance.com/cat...ostleaktesters on the compressor cover to pressurize the charge system??

What kind of diverter valve (bov) do you have?

Mbc could be backwards also.

What kind of evo 9 turbo do you have? is it a genuine Mitsu turbo or an aftermarket version with an anti surge compressor housing? if that's the case they just sound like that.

I had a similar noise on my 3000gt vr4 and it ended up being the hose that comes off the master cylinder. It has a check valve in the hose. If the valve is not there or in backwards somehow it could be that. Not sure if the Evo has a similar hose but I switched mine with a 1g na eclipse and it worked.
