Automatic A/C Off at WOT

Does anyone have a setup to automatically turn off the A/C compressor during WOT? This would allow max power without having to manually turn off the A/C. It seems like this could be done relatively easy through the ECU by using the TPS signal and a relay tapped into the A/C compressor dash switch.

most cars do this from the factory (usually above 90% tps and/or 5,000 rpm), i doubt the evo is an exception.

I was under the assumption it does NOT do this from the factory.

With the AC on, you're low on power. WOT or otherwise.

Zeitronix has a solution.

Sorry, I can't confirm if the EVO 8/9s already do this. I have heard they do and they dont.

Zeitronix will probably know, since they make that device and are in the DSM/EVO scene.

Well I owned an IX and the AC never stopped for WOT.

But I cannot cite any sources other than being an Owner.

OK, as far as I can tell the A/C compressor does not go off on my car at WOT or at least the green A/C dash button light does not go off. I contacted Zeitronix and they can not confirm this one way or the other, but said it "most likely does."

Here is what Zeitronix said about their TCAC (Throttle Controlled Air Conditioner) switch when asked if it can be used on the Evo 8/9:
"The TCAC switch functionality has been superseded by the ZAVT-1 Warning/Trigger box. Most vehicles now automatically turn off the A/C during performance driving - the TCAC was for older vehicles like the '92 talon which did not have this feature. The Zt-2 + ZAVT-1 can be used with a relay to trigger boost solenoid, trigger water/methanol injection, reduce timing, etc."

How would you know, short of wiring an indicator light inline to the compressor?

The light on the a/c button will always stay on, when the compressor cycles it doesnt go off.

The obvious power difference.

Also while tuning you can simply look at datalogs with AC on. After WOT, acceleration is much worse for the AC logs compared to AC off logs.

If the AC turned off at WOT, the logs would have identical acceleration after WOT.
