i have been using BR8ESIX iridium plugs. absolutely amazing plugs VS the standard BR8ES copper plugs. i have made at least 20 passes over 40psi and about 500 street miles and there still running supper clean and smooth. get iridiums .

DO NOT USE THIS PLUG in a Evo VIII. ILFR7H is for a 2006 IX.

Ah, I wasn't aware of the difference. Thank you for pointing that out. I'll update my post.

Anyone want to go into detail as to how the stock plug is not ideal?

Lots of people are quick to bash OEM parts (often for good reason), but in this particular case I recall seeing numerous threads/posts where people said that the stock plug was quite sufficient for a large amount of builds out there.

Is that incorrect?
stock plug is ideal except for the fact that it wears out incredibly fast.the iridium version lasts longer and i see no reason why it wouldn't be as good or better.

i mean who wants to change the plugs every time you change the oil?not me.

I guess in this case the VIII uses a totally different plug, so that might explain why people want to change it out to something else that works better for their build.

B = Dia. 14 mm

P = Projected tip. Puts the electrode and side electrode further into the combustion chamber.

R = Resistor. Helps with radio and ignition interference. I do not use this option unless needed. It robs a small amount of your spark energy.

7, 8. = Heat range of plug. lower # is hotter in NGK.

E = Length .750. Also known as the reach of the plug.

S = Standard tip design

IX = Special tip design.

You could run the cheapest NGK and it would work just as good as the more expensive ones. Less costly to replace more often.

B7ES. Stock Engines or slightly modified. Gap .024

B8ES. Modified. Gap .022

Above information is for Evo VIII. Evo IX is a totaly diferent plug.

Don
