I get that too. I just think this particular problem does not apply to us mere mortals, with our-off the shelf turbos.

Shop like we will use AMS for example since they use alot of PTE products.. they are just a dealer/middle man. yes they sell them but if you have any issue with the product unless its something they have built or altered in some way your beef would be with PTE not AMS.. they might be able to ship your broken turbo off for you for a rebuild but that it. their hands are clean basically unless its deemed a installed issue that caused the failur
A lot of customers especially ones who drop a car off and tell you to build it don't care what parts are on the car. They tell you build it and if it has issues it is your problem. AMS would not risk 100k builds to make a few hundred more on the turbo. To think so is just silly.

im all for a customer dropping a car off at a shop with a specific goal in mind for performance gains but if your telling me someone with an Evo, DSM Supra ect, would just drop a car off without doing any research or haven any input at all into what parts are going into their car? that statement in itself is silly ... you find me 1 person who dropped their car off at a shop and didnt give a single bit of input into what parts were used in their car..

Look at the alpha packages or the Underground Racing Gallardo packages. There are a few options that add cost but they rarely have any input except how much they pay. Big money builds are a lot different than what the tuner scene is like.

I hate to say it (look at my thread in my sig and see), but the previous owner of my evo did exactly that at AMS.
