Service Engine Soon light - here are the codes I get

So I bought this car and the guy I bought it from said the light was on bc of the rear o2 being disconnected. He was full of it bc it is clearly connected when i looked under the car so I took the car to Autozone for a free check and they said I have coes: P0243, P0300, and P0401. Can anyone help me narrow down the things to check for on these codes or suggest some trouble shooting?

Also, the ABS light is on and the guy said that happened after a brake pad sway. The ABS would kick in at ANY speed and then the light comes on and all the ACD lights come on. I checked the axles to make sure the teeth were ok and they appear to be. Autozone could not check the problem with the ABS on there handheld scanner. I dont want to go replacing sensors for no reason. Should I take it to a shop and let them deal with it?

The p0300 is for random engine misfire. The P0401 is for your egr system.

Do you sometimes get a stumbling while cruising about 60-65 on the highway until you let off the gas? When is the last time that you changed you plugs?

Check the vacuum lines around your egr. More than likely there is one that has popped off at the egr or one on the other vacuum lines it eventually connects to. I have found lines under the intake mani on both passenger side and the driver side that popped off for me. Make sure to use zip-ties to fasten them back on.

Acutally, yes the car would be cruising down the highway and it would all the sudden sound like it is bogging down then I would let off the gas and put my foot back on it and it would be normal again....kinda like ti is loading up on gas. I changed the plugs to the recommended NGK's per someone on here about 2 weeks ago and gapped them to .022 I believe.

It looks like every hose is zip tied but I will look under the intake manifold tonight and see if I see anything that may have come off. Currently the light is on and flashes occassionally too.

There is a thread that can show you how to get rid of the p0300 code. It is very easy to do for you or your tuner and it will not come back. I did it in Nov. 2008.

Here it is....https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ec...0300-test.html

There are other spots futher down the line on the passenger side of the car that may have popped off. I zip tied all the ones on the egr then the vacuum line popped off further down the line.

The light flashing is showing you that you have knock. Sounds like you already possibly have the Tephra mods already on or at least partially. Do you have a tactrix cable?

Ok, I found the hose using a mirror to look under the back side of the intake manifold. So the EGR is now hooked back up. Should I reset the ECU to clear the codes and see if the problem is gone?

I dont personally own the tactrix cable but my buddy does. He is suppose to bring it over so we can datalog the car since I am looking into an e-tune.

I would also like to know why?
I just got tuned by tscomptuned via email and I couldn't be happier.

Not everyone has access to a local tuner, so getting a email tune is sometimes the only option for these people.

The reason I went with a email tune is that a tune here costs over $1600!!!!!
I got a quote from 3 places and they all quoted me more or less the same, that's insane for a tune!
Best thing is they could only guarantee me 40bhp (not whp)

You can use the tactrix cable for clearing the codes or over time it will go away on its own as long as they are still not being thrown.

Once you have access to a tactrix cable, I can help you disable the p0300 if you need it. It is very easy to do.

This is for the other one...DTC P0243: Turbocharger Wastegate Solenoid Circuit

Not sure what would cause that off the top of my head. Do you have an aftermarket boost controller?

Yes, it is an aftermarket MBC but not certain on the brand. I just saw it tucked between some hoses under the hood. The guy before me didn't seem to know much about the car so I think he bought it with stuff done, did a few thigns himself, then sold it off.

As well as other, I agree.....why?

I was going to go through AMS probably for the e tune. There is no one local to tune it. My buddy used only e tunes on his STi's and said he never had a problem. I personally have not done it yet, but everyone says it is fine...

I've been using etune for five years now it's nothing new anymore, dyno is simulating car on the road.

Maybe he was thinking just a generic OTS map that someone would email??

Which obviously is far different than e-tuning ie.. Sending Logs and Maps back and forth.

My car has never seen a dyno and likely never will
