Exclamation Need help with COP system

I am trying to build my own COP set up instead of spending thousands on a brand name one. I got all of the pieces to the puzzle but I am getting conflicting information on how to set it up

I have a diagram attached of what I actually have I just need to know how everything connects together. For example on my Evo IV I use a wasted spark set up from the factory.

Do I continue to use this or do I use a separate channel for each coil or do I set it up like the DSM's where one single harness comes out from the COP plate to the car harness.

Here is what I have for my set up.
Got
300m coils x4
Dynatek Arc2 CDI x1
Dynatek wiring kit x 1
Spoolin up connectors and wires kit x1
JM Fab plate

I just need a reliable way to connect it all together. I have checked many forums but most diagrams are for the DSM 1 or 2g

Any help will be appreciated.

What ECU are you running?
How much power do you want?
What is the car used for?

$300 for CDI
$75 for installation kit
$50 for wires/connectors
$135 plate
$125 for coils
+ you time and hassle?

You've already spent approx $700 (not including postage)...
Why not just buy the non-CDI kit from spark tech or Spoolinup?

Or buy your own toyota coils - Spoolinup lists the part numbers to use:
Denso 90919-02240

Get a set for around $150 on ebay
make your own plate
Buy Spoolinup connectors wiring.

I understand what you say but with the Evo IV you must run cdi when running with the 300m coils. I got the coils for free and thats how I got started on the build.

Plus I pride my self of having done all the work on my car and acomplishing this feat would add to that...

just buy another set of toyota coils and forget about that 300m's if they require that much budget

costed me ~$100 including coils, connectors etc. works flawlessly on my IV

People, he's not asking if he should go with non CDI or CDI, he's going CDI, he's asking about that, so if you dont have what he's looking for why tell him to get something else?

Here's the wiring diagram with an AEM CDI Box and the stock ECU for an Evo 8 wiring:

I'm not 100%, but i'm pretty sure you dont need to go CDI with 300m coils.
Just use a two channel ignitor, and run them in wasted spark configuration.

And while i realise i didn't exactly answer his question, i was just approaching it from another angle to see if he had seen another point of view.

Lightbulb

Thank you for all your help. I think I am going to do the wasted spark set up with two channels but instead of it having 2 coils it will have 4 coils and I am pretty sure that I can set up the cdi box for two channels.

That diagram helped me a lot in putting things into a better perspective.

I will update more information as I go along with the project

Also @ Stunt2 you mentioned having an Evo 4. I see you are located in the USA. I am stationed overseas and had my 4 since 2009 and I have been trying to figure out how to get mine to the states.

is your imported? reconstructed or just swapped with a mirage shell?

would love to know how you got it there

Cheers

Another question. What connectors are you guys using to plug from the coil to the harness it self from the CDI.

I bought the spooling up connector set but turns out that the connectors will not work together. Are you guys splicing them or how is the actual connection being made. Pictures will be great to help me understand..

Thank you :-)

Which spoolin up kit are you getting? There are several available. I dont think the DSM work on wasted spark and what I think people are doing with them is running CDI. Can anyone comfirm on that?
