I think i want a new clutch.
That hp level seems to test the limits of the single disc clutches IMO. Where their longevity seems to drop off any way. I would recommend an Exedy Twin Cerametallic. It may make a little noise but they have proved to hold up to 550 hp or close to 600 ft lbs well and the longevity seems to outperform a single at that level. I have run everything from a single street disc on a stock engine to a 6 puck ACT to a Twin Exedy and now to a Triple Carbon Exedy on 650+. I would not recommend anything else at your level bud. Best of Luck! I hope I was some help
Depending on how many miles you put on your car a year, be prepared to change your clutch about once a year with a twin. The reason I say that is because I drive right at 20k a year, and that's about the average for most twins. The ACT HDSS that was in my car when I got it, I put just over 70k on it myself, not counting the miles that the previous owner drove. If your pockets are deep enough, go ahead and get a twin. I've dropped my transmission twice, and it's one of those things that I wouldn't want to do that often.

I would keep a stock clutch for 400HP unless you drag race a bunch. My car ran 12.40 and was on stock clutch for over 40k miles and still worked well when I got rid of the stock power train. If you go drag racing a bunch I would recommend an act hdss and above 500whp I would do an XT-SS before a twin. Twin disk clutches suck and see noisy and expensive and require regular rebuilds. I hated my twin disk soo much. Now if you are a hard core drag racer get a QM Twin disk and deal with the issues because it will handle tje abuse best.

I make 430whp and run an ACT HDSS. No issues, no slipping, etc.

act hd with a spring 6 puck.
did a TON of reading/asking before i went that route. i race my car 90% of the time (only miles are to and from events) and it feels just as good now as it did new. so far i've put approx 2000 miles on it, 2 hill climb events, i "track" day, and 8 auto x's. launched the car at LEAST 6-8 times each event on 255 tires. just started running 275 rcomps and it holds the added traction well.

Only reason to shy careful of the ACT 6 puck is its harsh engagement. I am not saying its a bad clutch, I just don't like the on-off feel of the engagement even with the sprung 6 puck I currently have sitting in my garage with 1k on it. It handled 365 hp great just like everyone above is saying, I just would not feel you would be happy daily driving a clutch like that but hey this is just my opinion. There are many others on here that are going to feel differently about each clutch and are going to feel more comfortable with different clutches. So I would recommend talking to either an EXEDY or ACT rep, find the hp level they recommend for what your driving consists of and make your choice.
I bought the Comp Clutch 5152-2100 because of the review from English Racing. I can't comment on it because I'm getting the tranny/TC rebuilt first but from what I've read I would recommend that.
You don't need a damn twin disk for a 400hp car...
