I've had no issues with my coating and its been on my car for two years now. I even have the hot side of my turbo coated as well... digital camo. I think you will be fine as long as you find a reputable shop that properly cleans your parts prior to coating them.

Your just asking for a underhood fire...
Like I said, been running like that for over a year with my current setup. Done a full year or drag racing and autox and some circuit racing. It´s not a fire harzard.

Here´s my old setup with a GTspec style header and also a wrap around the header and turbo flange with the aluminum tape (on top of DEI wrap). Had a huge exhaust leak that day that burned the wrap and tape but no fire, this was a time attack stile event, so it´s a lot hotter than drag racing or autocross.

Thanks for all the info!!
I havent looked into coatings other than what ets offers and they steered me away from coatings due to cracking/flaking. I havent bothered to look into coatings any more since then. I will definently look into it to see what ceramic coatings shops say about it here in canada. I already have some of that dei ti wrap that came with my turbo blanket/shield, I wraped it up for the time being to see how it will be but I will closely monitor my egt to ensure it doent get too crazy. If it does I will immediatley rip off the wrap and send the manifold out for coating. I will post pics of the wrap after. I think it turned out rather nice, but that material is a pice of crap to work with, between all the fiberglass that falls off and how the weaves undo as you wrap... it was not a fun task especially because in some areas the manifold is tight from tube to tube... Not easy in the least but came out well, time will have to tell if it will be o.k. or not...

The general view is that header wrap does work well, but in certain conditions. The main senario would be race cars that have their headers wrapped. The one big point a lot of people miss is that the header/s are replaced after each race, and don't suffer any of the negative part of header wrap.

Ceramic coating is the best option imo. I wouldn't wrap a manifold again... the risk of oil soak and fire alone, but the last manifold that I wrapped was my low-mount log-style manifold for my turbo RX-8 and it cracked the manifold.

damn guys... I really regret spending all that time wrapping it
I may be brave and leave it on and see how it goes... If that is what I do then I will give feed back on how long it lasted or not and whether or not the mani cracked. But if it does crack I guess I will give toxic fab a call

Swaintech coating on the AMS manifold for the last 7yrs and counting.
I must say my car is street driven only, NO racing.

I've heat wrapped every tubular manifold I've ever run granted they were mostly NA motors. It is taking a chance but so is a big turbo, built motor and just about anything aftermarket. If the manifold is good quality you should be fine. I have been running a used Maxford mani (who knows where this thing ever came from) that I bought from a member here over a year ago and I haven't had any issues.

The Swain coating is some of the strongest coating I have seen. As far as coatings flaking I know the shiny ceramic coatings will be the worst.

Wrapping or coating is a great idea, any way to keep heat away from the CAS works, and a good manifold will hold up to the heat of wrapping or coating...

high temp coat and wrap for twice the fun

only issue with wrapping is if the manifold is cheap it can accelerate cracking and breaking welds. but wrapping it will increase spool (slightly) and hopefully keep your engine bay temps a little cooler.
