Thanks for the non-help, cfdfireman1.

Just a few other thoughts that might cause your symptom. That little increase in your temps is nothing to be concerned about. We thank you for taking care of your evo, but there is a fine line between caring for your car and being hypochondriac about it. Your evo is fine, go drive it and enjoy it
More good points. Oil level is always within spec and condition doesn't change after oil changes.

Was going to get spark plugs anyway so we'll see what that gets me.

Stock/ factory oil temp sensor in the oil filter housing. It's commonly thought the stock gauge/ sensor reads a bit low.

It gets hot no matter what, but does definitely get hotter more easily with the AC on.

Factory sensor is NOT in the oil filter housing it is the drain plug for the oil pan, just to clarify. Sounds like your car is operating exactly as it should. On hotter/humid days or with a/c on my temps sit around 90C factory gauges. I would agree with cleaning out the fins on the cooler for ample heat transfer. Other then that it sounds normal.

Thanks for clarifying. You're the first person I've heard of that experiences the same thing. Do you hit 90C fairly regularly?

Checked last night and there's no visible blockage of the oil cooler and the ducts line up fine too. But that's not to say there's no blockage whatsoever.

I'll continue on my quest and see what I can figure out.

whats the oil pressure? is it low or high. also, as the fireman said, 90 celcius is about 194 degrees. stock thermostats don't even open till 170+. if your water temps are ok, then your oil temps will be roughly around the same. if there is no obvious change in behaviour as you say, and no chk eng. lights, then get a scan tool and read us the values of ambient air, water and oil temps. if your dipstick is black or burnt, you may have an issue with something internal. if the oil color has not changed, it is good. enjoy driving your car before you start ripping it apart for a non existant problem

I got rid of my MR gauges and went with all AEM gauges. You get a truer reading. The max temp my oil temp reads is 200 degrees and my mechanic is aware of it and says that's fine for a mid-modified daily driver...I use MOBIL 1 as per the owner's manual. I am using an OEM thermostat/fans and a CBRD radiator. Car has 100K on it...

My stock gauge also was normally around 70C in the summer time, on really hot days in traffic I saw 90C too.... if you are really worried, I'd drain and flush your oil cooler... Otherwise it seems pretty normal.... but I'd ask how long have you been monitoring your oil temps? are we speaking months? or years? .... I'm speaking years.

Guys, Brik is the kind of meticulous car geek that will drive you batty but you gotta understand that he keeps a close eye on details like this and is more than likely not making it up!

Did you do this yet? How about anything else that's changed since last summer--are you still running the stock undertray, Any other aero-type stuff changed?

How about cleaning out the oil cooler somehow--compressed air or water?

Different wheels/tires reducing vacuum in the wheel well?
