ACT clutch failure

Just wanted to share with everybody.

Clutch only had 10k miles on it, installed it over a year ago. Sent in the parts to act but unfortunately they did not honor the warranty. No worries though, had my fun with it.

Any opinions on what could have caused this failure?

Thanks

i was getting alot of vibration in the pedal, pretty sure it was because one of the springs popped out. Right when i hit the engagement point of the clutch it was making a loud squealing noise, I think that was from one of those metal pieces stuck in between the clutch disc and pressure plate, or flywheel, one of the two

Finally got the new clutch in today and installed, went with the competition stage 3.5. The clutch feels amazing, the engagement is soooo much smoother then the act. Can't wait till its broken in to see how well it grabs. Pretty sure ill be sticking with competition from now on.

Why do these stupid a$$ clutches keep doing this? I mean doesnt ACT acknowledge that there might be an issue here? My ACT clutch (was installed before I bought the car) is beginning to do the same thing. I noticed last time I had it out (when I was installing my built tranny) the springs were way loose and the disk itself seemed a bit loose. The only reason it went back in the car was because I didnt have the time or money to replace it considering I was TDY 700 miles from home. I put CCI clutches in just about every evo I work on or Exedy and have never seen them do this. AND usually they are cheaper than ACT crap!

Usually that is caused by lack of dowel pins in the trans/block. The amount of failures are very small compared to units sold and 10K miles later it wasnt "defective" you just broke it. I dont see how wear and tear on a part that takes a ton of abuse is something to complain about.

Yep not suppriseing been doing that for 10 years now. You would think they would have fixed it by now but it doesn't supprise me at all. My question is why do people put these ****ty clutches in such nice cars?

Because the percentage of success still outweighs the percentage of failure for these clutches.

Not complaining sir, just sharing my experiences with the rest of the evo community.

Also when this happened, I was at about 50% throttle, I've taken my car to the track numerous times, and really given it hell, and its held up fine. This happened in normal daily driving.
