Whats a decent clutch for the evo 9

Which clutch should I get for my evo9 guys I need some input. My power levels are loooking no more than 320whp or so nothing too fancy. Whats a good stock replacement without all the lock-out and other issues iv'e been hearing about id like to avoid that.

Also last but not least let me get some prices of some good replacements. I just want to enjoy the car and not get all crucial with it because as you well know parts are so hard to find for this car.

I had an Exedy Stage 1 standard duty once upon a time. It was a very good clutch and had a very good feel to it, very good drivability. I only got about 30k miles worth of driving out of it (it was installed incorrectly). <- if I had known this at the time i would have bought another one or the stage 1 HD. but instead i went with an Exedy stage 2 hd and the drivability on it sucks.
but even though it wasnt put in correctly I did get 30k miles on it, and probably 70+ launches off of it.

If i had to do it all over again I probably would have gone with another stage 1 or stage 1 HD.
And im probably at 300whp.

How much WTQ? IMO, OEM clutch is good enough for you.

I am curious what makes you think a clutch that lasred for 70 launches and 30K miles was installed incorrectly? That sounds great for a stock style clutch.

I would use a factory Mitsu clutch. The aftermarket OEM replacements are junk in comparison and not worth buying. The factory clutch is not that expensive and works great. I ran 12.4@112.7 and it lasted over 30K miles at ~350whp.

I have to disagree with the recommendation of the factory clutch. The ACT HD is far superior. It can handle more power, it lasts much longer, and pedal feel is about the same. If you are going to spend the hundreds of dollars to have it replaced, you should upgrade to the better clutch (in my opinion).

I run the ACT HD on my track car and it has performed flawlessly.

Something seems to happen with the HDSS after it wears a bit and probably after a few high heat cycles. Around its last half of its life I started to get lockout but the first half was perfectly fine. Both Aaron and Lucas from English racing have experienced the same thing.

I still use it because it tolerates my auto-x style launches amazingly well and we short shift at about 5500 rpms. The lock out doesn't really effect my racing but I couldn't drag race with it if I wanted to (Not that I would). I'm up to around 200 launches on mine and maybe 15k miles.

actually when you put it like that, it does seem like it did very well.
And I only say that because when the clutch was pulled out, the clutch disk was worn unevenly. Also when the cluch was in the car I had problems with the transmission locking me out of the next gear when in high rpm. I never figured it could be a clutch problem, but I havent had the same problem since the new one was put in.

I would do a quality ACT clutch unit of the proper disc and pressure plate combo for your individual needs. Choosing the wrong combo can lead to shifting woes.
