Question Valve Cover Gasket + Mitsu-Bond

Anyone familiar with using Mitsu-Bond on the valve cover gasket?

How much and where? I can't find it in the FSM.

Just a dab in the corners of the cam caps. So, 8 spots, mivec. Or 6 spots for the evo 8.

In the corners of the 4 you didn't circle.

Yeah, those are cam caps, however you only need to put on the outer (4) like mentioned above. You can still see sealant on the one the top left end cap.
Make sure you clean all the old sealant and oil residue off. Use some brake cleaner on a rag to clean the sealing surface of oil.
Permatex Import Gasket Sealer (gray stuff) from the local autoparts store works just as well.

Thanks for the pro tip.

Does sealant go on both sides of the gasket?

+1

and a dab of CA on the plug gaskets so they don't fly away when you flip it over.

No , sealant is applied to the bare metal on the head on the inside edge of both sides of the cam caps at each corner. none is needed on the actual rubber gasket. it will sear just fine . Also another helpful tip is dont over tighten the valvecover bolts doesnt take much to make a positive seal. your not trying to hold back boost or anything , just some oil. Good luck

Why did you bump this? The thread fully explains where to dab the silicone for a good seal.
