Switching from HKS 272 to GSC 2s

Hey All...

As the title says, ive decided to change cams but ive got a slight problem...along with the HKS , i installed a set of Brian Crower Valve Spring and retainers....

Question is, do i need to upgrade my valve train in order to install the GSC's or would the BC work fine.

Now some background on the Car.. Im running a APEXi Tsunami Turbo Kit ( equal to a 35R ) and donot ever plan to run it over 8500 Rpm on 93 octane...

So please advise whether i should upgrade or are these enough?

The BCs will work fine. It's still an upgrade from stock so there shouldn't be any problems, even at 8500rpm.

Just so you see it in here, I've been running S2s with those springs/retainers for a long time now. Many others do as well without any issues.

Don't worry about cam gears. Pick up some Kelford 272's or gsc s2's

I am in the exact same position as you and am in the middle of taking my head off and sending it to the machine shop for a port and polish. I would like to know how high my brian crower springs and retainers are good to rev to. I will be adding GSC no tick lifter as well because I have always hated the tick since I bought it in 2006.

I've seen plenty of guys run the BC springs on numerous types of cams i think you guys should be just fine i personally got the GSC beehive springs and titanium retainers. Like Piro said i think up to 8500 rpms you should be ok

Running bc springs retainers on my old hks cams for 30 k and 15k on my s2s there good. People might knock them but in the end they are titanium. Car redlines 8k daily, according to bc there good for 9k asked them myself. Just buy gsc no tick lifters at same time

Anywhere from 20-40 hp depending on the rpms. Lost no power downlow. Idle is more rough but still idles great with ac on.
