The an flare fittings seal themselves and do not require any sealant. I would not use any locktite on them.

Only tapered pipe threads use sealant.

This is good for tapered pipe threads but it is not for -an flare fittings.

i thought -an fittings were tapered?

all fittings on the new PCV system are -8an and -10an with 90* and 45* hose ends with push-lok hose.

i also bought a bigger oil cooler and a bunch of -8an fittings, but the cooler has 1/2"npt to -8an and the rest are -8an again with 90* hose ends and the russel classic hose

i can't imagine using no sealant at all on them.

i also have some that i need to do for a home made oil cooler kit

they seal on the angled seat, adding thread sealer will hurt, not help. thread sealer is for npt, not an.
