Unhappy How much can a stock Evo 8 drivetrain hold?

I have a 400whp evo 8 with a stock drive train, I am having trouble with times at the track because I am taking it easy on the launch. Should I be concerned to dump the clutch for a launch or should I feather it out?

You want to go racing and not break anything. Good luck with that.

You don't want to dump the clutch in an awd car it will either bog, break something, or spin the tires. The tcase won't hold up long launching with a decent amount of power like that. The stock trans can take quite a beating if you know what you're doing in terms of shifting and clutch usage.

You should be fine, I have been running the stock drive train for around 1.5 years 30+ launches (maybe more) without a problem, if you know how to launch your car you won't break anything

check out the how to launch threads in the drag racing section, talks about preloading the drivetrain etc. Of course you gotta pay to play

If you pre load the clutch n drive train properly there should be no issues with 400 as I'm making 450 and have stock trans n transfer case with 126k and still don't have any issues. There are videos here on Evo m and YouTube on how to pre load properly

How many miles are on the car? and how many of them were with 400hp? Are you racing in competitions or for personal pride?

I race just for fun, the car has 62K, not all of them were at that power level, after the 400whp my stock lasted 5 or 6 then I swapped for the ACT

You're walking on thin ice my friend! My 30,000 mile tcase started the death whine when it was on the dyno. Maybe 5 launches which were done while the car was stock. I wasn't really surprised considering it was making 543 ft lbs on a MD.

hahaha 543ft on a MD is a LOT!!! I have 394ft on a DJ and yes I know is going to happen at some point but I think if you do it right, it will last for few passes, I have been at this power level for around 18k with no problem but the preload is key!!!
