Getting locked out, need ideas.

I made some 8th mile passes today, first time officially drag racing. First pass I got locked out of 5th, tried to shift and it grinded. Second run I couldn't get it into 3rd. I'm on an Exedy stage 1 with about 30k miles and maybe 10 launches. What's going on here, give me some good educated ideas. I don't get any clutch slip and no signs of trans problems ever until this.

Yes sir I definitely have to put it into 5th for the last little stretch. Still ran an 850 and rolled the last bit. Trust me I was thinking the same thing and everyone else is baffled as well, I'm no noob to my car, just to official drag racing. Redlined 7500rpms

I tried adjusting it yesterday and it's all the way out already. Is there an adjustment anywhere but on the floor? I've never touched it since it was installed. And 7500rpms.

That's the only spot where you can adjust.

All the way out meaning you can't see any more thread? Engagement very high?

You want the min amount of free play, no free play is bad.

It doesn't engage at the floor, I couldn't adjust it out anymore. I looked at the how to on clutch adjustment and tried doing it the same way, there was no more adjustment.

To be perfectly honest I might have went past the 8th marker that's why I tried clicking 5th but either way I got nothing but a grind.

Yeah, if the adjustment rod is all the way out it may be adjusted too high. Is there any freeplay?

At 7500rpm in 4th you would be doing around 120mph. An 8.50 in the 1/8th usually means a trap speed under 90mph. A lot of guys with higher rev limits trap like 135 in the 1/4 and don't get into 5th.

Your clutch is most likely causing the lockout issue. You probably need something tougher than a stage 1 exedy to handle the insane amount of power you're making that forces you to hit 5th gear in the 1/8th mile.

Tell me about it. I know all of this, I have other buddys with Evo's everyone including myself is saying the same thing. 4th finished the run but I tried shifting to 5th after the run and got a grind.

Edit, it drove fine on the way home.
