My buddies 03 evo 8 isnt spooling until 6k we are trying to figure it out. He just put a new ETS 3" intake 2.5" intercooler piping and a 3.5 ETS intercooler. It hasnt been tuned yet but I know that it shouldnt change the way the turbo spools that much. He is stock besides that, a 3" downpipe, high flow cat, RSR GT2 exhuast. I figured I would just ask you guys since I am too lazy to look at it myself. He checked all the clamps and couplers and everything tunes out fine. Im just curious what else it may be. boost leak test?
all vacuum lines hooked up?

something is not hooked up, or is hooked up wrong. i know he went over it, but another set of eyes may help. there is really nothing else that would randomly cause it.

 

I checked it out. It's all right. It's weird how it won't go into boost now. He over boosted when he put a new MBC on it so he took it off and is running off the waste gate. It litterally feels like it wants to boost but just spools. It's all motor. I'm lost on this one...

6k is major lag. flapper stuck open or something clogged in exhaust system or big big boost leak.

or possibly horrible afr bogging car down as well.

 

I'm thinking big boost leak by the LICP or possibly a crack in the actual intercooler
