Cat vs 6" Mid-Muffler - Which is Quieter?

Thought I'd make a new thread instead of bumping the old quiet catback clarification thread. Any ideas on this? For both the stock catalytic convert, Stock cat with 3" ends, some of the aftermarket catalytic converts, vs a 6" magnaflow mid muffler -

Thanks

Both the stock cat and the BR cat are quieter than a Magnaflow.

Just be aware you will loose lots of hp. Maybe 40+ depending if you are maxing your exhaust now.

Wait. You currently have two magnaflows AND a cat? That must be a quiet exhaust.

Oh Ok. That's similar to mine. You getting tired of the sound I assume? Me too. I added about 6lbs of dynomat in the trunk and it helped a little with the drone, but you can still hear the exhaust the same. Have you considered a chamber muffler and a O2 dump?. That way cruising is quiet and then open up at WOT.

I have two magnaflow mufflers (one rear and one where the cat was) and a magnaflow resonator in between, very quiet and straight through.

bump for this - so i've ran the dual muffler setup (with a 6" in place of the cat/test pipe area), and I'll be trying out a HFC cat (I guess the 175 cell mil.spec)?

The new car I bought actually had dynamat in the trunk area to start - though I'll remove the dynamat on the ceiling of the trunk itself.

Note that a HFC will be quieter, but they simply cannot handle higher exhaust flows. Running over 25psi of boost on the stock turbo (or equivalent flow rates on larger) will cause it to collapse over time, to the point where it'll choke things off completely.
