will evo 9 wide tank ETS cooler fit evo 8

I have the opportunity to buy one cheap so I need to know if it will fit. It has a narrower (by 2") core vs the evo 8 standard tank IC, but do the wider end tanks cause an issue? Are mounting points the same? Cooler inlet pipes the same and fit up to stock design ralliart piping kit?

One of ETS's posts on here and their website advertises the wide tank as 'evo 8 and 9 wide tank IC" with no distinction between the two (sku is actually "Evo8_WT_IC" on their site) - Link: here

Thanks!

Yes the wide tank fits on the Evo 8, they share the same mounting points. I had a picture pulled up the other day and personally I think it looks much better.

Found a picture of it on a forum members car.

Brilliant, that's perfect. Fits with no modifications?

Yeah I agree the wide tank looks better, the standard looks too large but I guess it works well. The wide tanks apparently distribute the air better through the core, performance hit is hopefully negligible vs the std tank but im coming from a stock cooler so for me its all gains.

Thanks

Just like the guys said above. Direct bolt on.

They are both 33" overall for inlet to outlet and the mounting brackets are in identical locations.

The standard intercooler has a 24" wide core with smaller end tanks

The widetank intercooler has a 22" wide core with larger end tanks.

The reason for the 22" core on the 9 is to maximize surface area (number 1 most important part when searching for your intercooler). Rather than have 2" of core behind the bumper cover (standard tank 24" core) we build larger end tanks for better air distribution.

The 8 has such a large opening so the full 24" intercooler is exposed.

The actual difference for most applications will be minor, so your good to go. Hands down it will be a huge difference over the factory intercooler.

Hope this helps!

Thanks!

Michael

I have an ets 3.5 wide tank on my 03 8. Fit without issues and I had another ic previously that filled the grill, but I like the wide tank seems better for flow imo. Worth it car pulls good even in 100f heat.
