How do you measure main bearing crush?
You can do it by two different ways. Precision measurement tools are required for the first one.
1- Install the main girdle, torque it down and measure each journal height, then measure each corresponding crankshaft journal diameter and each bearing thickness. Bearings should already be separeted for each journal;
2- Install the block side main bearings, install the crankshaft, lay a piece of platigage over each journal, install the main girdle with it´s main bearings and torque it down. Unbolt it and measure the platigage crush.
