Well Something broke....

Well, here is my situation that I am in. I got my transmission built by shep 6 months back or so and as of today, the rebuilt transmission has no more than 2000 miles on it. I also got a new clutch installed, exedy stage 2. I was driving the other day and I went to take off from a light a light faster than normally and well to make things simple it should like something snapped. I can put it in all the gears just fine but when I go to let out the clutch to engage it, it makes a grinding sound. My first thought that it was either the input shaft or the transfer case went but I am not very educated on drivetrain's. All the work was done by CBRD, removing and reinstalling the transmission and clutch. Transmission was sent out to shep for a full street/strip build. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong? I'm just looking for some idea's to narrow it down. Thanks!
