Evo noob questions couldnt find in search
Ok I did look in search and limited it down but couldnt find the answers I was looking for.
First whats with the over sized bolts for the Trasnfer case? people talk about it as though it needs to be done im just wondering where you even start to over bore the screw hole?
will a 255 fuel pump work for e85 on stock turbo?
272 cams with out springs how hard are bushur 272 cams
is and evo 9 turbo worth going up to from an evo 8 for the price or is it something that is just a bandaid for real power?
How often do you change T case fluid Im going to go with the Dqueen stuff that everyones talking about just wanna know how often?
How often do you guys say you should change tranny fuild? I was thinking of going with redline cocktail....
And finally BALANCE SHAFT removal? I own and had some very fast dsm in my day. From what ive read there isnt a lot of people doing this? This used to be on of my first mods on a DSM with changing the waterpump and timing belt. How bad is it to replace and I heard on the evo motor it takes away the need for the balance belt which would just be extra safety in my book. Really need some Gear Heads to chime in on this one.
Thanks for all your help and support guys it really has been a big help

Never heard anything about over sized bolts for the transfer case. As far as a walbro goes IMO it's loud and I prefer the deatchwerks 320. I would suggest changing the springs with your cams your already in there poking around and a piece of mind doesn't hurt. I change my fluids every year a little bit of an over kill but once again piece of mind and I do tend to drive my car hard since I don't drive it in winter. And I stick to oem fluids for transfer case diff and transmission
so maybe a tcase and diff twice a year since I drive year round?
anything on balance shaft removeable it seems to be low key and I dont know why on DSM forums its like the first mod cause its pretty much the same motor so I was really looking for some help here before I buy a racing gates belt for balance I thought I could put that money towards a delete instead.

Owners manual should tell you how often to change fluids. Alot of ppl would say not to use diaqueen, and use amsoil instead. I have a balance shaft delete on my 2.3, been that way for almost 3 years now. Just remember whatever your rpms, the balance shaft is spinning twice the speed. Evo 8 is smaller than a 9 turbo. A walbro will be fine for e85, im sitting on e85 walbro255 and 1450cc injectors (so as not to have to upgrade multiple times) and at low 400's uncorrected.
you think amsoil is really better? Also would you recomend to change fluids sooner then what suggested i guess is what i ment.
Yea but again you have a built motor. ..? or did you delete them after? I heard people have had problems doing this stock? Just wonder if it was true or just bs? Thanks for you help on the other questions.

If you beat on it, yea change it a lil early. If not, normal maint periods are fine. Yes i would suggest amsoil, time and time again their products do what they claim.
I would say just leave the balance shaft as is til you build your motor, whether it be arp studs, pistons, etc. just be careful if you go e85 and you up boost above i wanna say 25-27psi, you need arp head studs.
I deleted mine at the same time i rebuilt my engine to a 2.3. From my experience, i couldnt even tell it was removed

Yes you would tap a new larger hole for the screws. I would not worry about it until upgrading the transfer case. I was always told I would blow my stock t-case drag racing and have never managed to. ( I have a spare waiting to go in)
will a 255 fuel pump work for e85 on stock turbo?
It may work for the stock turbo but it would be better to simply dive in and go double pumper or one large intank like the 400.
272 cams with out springs how hard are bushur 272 cams
You need to consider lift instead simply duration. The BF272 cams have a high lift, that is not recommended on the stock block. You would need to make sure that they can clear the pistons.

[COLOR="blue"]]If you have a 10.5 hotside already the gains are pretty minimal. I would recommend a larger stock frame turbo like the HTA Green, BBK series, or EF series of turbos.[/COLOR
How often do you change T case fluid Im going to go with the Dqueen stuff that everyones talking about just wanna know how often?
The manual says to change it every 30k to 15k miles. Some like to do it more and some less.

Same as above and OEM fluids are fine until you start making serious power or if you are trying to shift like lightning.

Most people leave them in until building the motor.

Hell I have even touched 46psi for a moment before stopping the pull. The spike was due to a frayed signal wire.
Just some of my personal and observed experience. Hope it helps.

I've never heard of this before, so I would ask a professional
will a 255 fuel pump work for e85 on stock turbo?
Absolutely.. I am currently at 515awhp on E85 on a single Walbro 255
272 cams with out springs how hard are bushur 272 cams
It's smart to just buy springs and retainers for piece of mind. It's better than dropping a valve or something of that nature and destroying your engine.
Unless you're going to go with something timid like GSC S1's. I would highly recommend replacing the valve springs and retainers. Greg at Power-Division is awesome! He will get you well sorted out for a great price. Get beehive springs and retainers. GSC S2's are the absolute best bang for the buck. Kelfords and Juns are good too..

This is all up to you, honestly, I would go buy a used turbo kit. Depends on what type of power you're looking for. I truthfully wouldn't unless you're really short on money. You could also do a 10.5 hotside on your 8 turbo, if it doesn't have it already.
How often do you change T case fluid Im going to go with the Dqueen stuff that everyones talking about just wanna know how often?
15k miles is when I'm doing mine and truthfully probably 10k.
How often do you guys say you should change tranny fuild? I was thinking of going with redline cocktail....
I'm changing my transmission fluid every 10-15k miles as well maybe less

If you want to take the time to drop your engine, go for it, but do the job right.. You could also buy a gates balance shaft belt for extra security if you don't feel like removing this part.

-TBE
-Fuel Pump (Single Walbro 255 or Buscher Double pumper and don't look back)
-Intake
-Valve train (GSC Beehive springs & retainers)
-Cams (GSC S2 Cams)
-Fuel Injectors (FIC 1050's if you're not going Big-T or don't care for E85 If not FIC 1450's are a cheap option and do it once) (Nate at MAP will give you a killer deal)
-Turbo upgrade (There are a lot out there)
-IC upgrade. (If you want cheap go with treadstone. I'm at 515awhp no heatsoak so far... I will be testing it's limits at the race track soon.. If not it would be ETS or something like that. (FYI ETS is one of the best companies I've ever worked with. Ever.)
-Get an O2 dump if you're staying stock turbo. You could always get a Megan 02 housing if you want to save some money.
