Changing wastegate spring?

I have the turbosmart wasgate, and was wonderin if I changed from the 18 psi spring to the 25 psi will require me to get tuned again. Also has anybody taken off the wastegate with turbo still on?

Thanx!

For future reference, posting pretty late on a Sunday night won't get many responses within an hour

Back to your question, from my experience, you will have to get a retune anytime you're increasing/decreasing the air or fuel.

Anybody with input on taking the wastegate off the the turbo on the car? Just curious cause I'm going to be doing some fluid changes and hopefully changing the spring out. Anybody even taken the WG off while turbo is still on the car?

You want to put a heavy spring to push more boost is assume?? if so then (as has been stated) you need a retune.

from the pictures it looks like its a lock ring that can be turned to change out springs, maybe you can do it while its in the car if there is enough space?

i was planning on taking the entire WG off while the turbo is in the car, to open the lock ring the instruction say to use a vise since the lock ring assembly is pressurized shut.

just wondering if anybody has removed the entire WG while its on the turbo with the turbo installed

thanx!!

You should be able to get to it, to take it off of the turbo. Having it all the way off will make it much easier to replace the spring
