Grounding kits only help cars that have crap grounds. Cars get crap grounds from driving around for years and corroding. No 1 year old Evo is going to gain anything from a grounding kit, despite all the silly hype.

Yeah, the fans run full time so overheating shouldn't be an issue.

when your car is fast it shakes alittle. Also its a 4banger with pretty solid motor mounts.

What the heck are you talking about? We don't have an Xede. I think you should reread that post.

I think you should be re-reading. The second paragraph of the first link clearly states to adjust the BISS (base idle set screw) on the the TB (throttle body). This will allow you to raise (or lower) idle RPMs to help smooth things out.

Because it is hard on absolutely everything. The alternator, belts, pulleys, etc. Everything has to work harder to get you going the speed you want to go. In stop and go traffic it has to do that everytime that you stop and get going again. The AC system draws an icredible amount of power. Add the radio, lights, wipers, etc to that and eventually something has to give. Too much of a power demand. I rarely if ever use my AC. And if I do it is on the interstate after im already up to speed. But of course, its your car, do what you want with it. It has warranty. But I would rather take care of what I have rather than rely on a warranty to fix things that could have easily been avoided. Just my thoughts.

So you are worried that your engine will suffer because you have your A/C on when you accelerate lightly from a stop? The engine is under low load in that circumstance. The A/C doesn't add undue stress. Turn it back on and be comfortable. You put more wear on your engine by running it out to redline.

Or is it the belt you are worried about? It is just a belt. When it fails, replace it.

Listen, I live in the desert. I have driven my Evo around last summer in 110+ degrees, in traffic, stop and go, A/C on and yes, you lose power, but the car runs fine, no overheat, and no signs of problems. I noticed it takes some more revs from a stop to get the thing going. Kinda bogs down, but I'm not looking to race under those conditions, just trying to get where I'm going and get inside.

The answer to your question is in there. You wanted a technical reason as to WHY it idles rough, well read it and find out WHY. At least Shiv's reason that is.

They are talking about cars with an xede on them. Not only that, but they are talking about cold idle instability.

Actually, the grounding kit did smooth out my idle. ESPECIALLY with the A/C on, it no longer drops off so bad. I think my EVO idles pretty high though, around 900'ish RPM's so it seems smooth to me. My 944 Turbo idled real rough. It is kinda the nature of 4 cylinder beasts.

I agree DO NOT drive around in stop and go traffic with the A/C on.

This has nothing to do with overheating. What I was refering to is that in stop and go traffic with A/C on, makes it 10 times harder to engage the clutch smoothly. The engine vibration dramatically increases, and the engine wants to bog and die out as soon as you start to release the clutch pedal.

Not really a concern about engine longevity or reliabilty, just another PITA factor added into already having to deal with the traffic.

like i said... grounding kit will probably help because electronics are involved (like AC)
