Wink Has anyone ever had the Driver side axle and input shaft to the transmission come out

Has anyone ever had the driver side axle and input shaft to the transmission come out as one? My buddy could not get his axle in so he hammered it into the transmission. Now the input shaft about what 12" or so long is stuck inside the axle. Is this bad? I told him, I couldn't give him an answer people I don't know if he pushed the input shaft in the CV too much, but three is about 3 mm of play with it, but it can't come out.

Not exactly sure why it will not come out.
[I can snag a picture later, I took one already if anyone wants to see it, or needs/wants a picture let me know]

Thanks
