Question NOS On Evo VIII

Hi all I am new to the turbo world and have a question about using NOS on a turbo car. To this point I have not posted any thing on this message board, but have been an avid reader. I have a lot on time modding N/A cars like Hondas and Acura’s, but the whole turbo thing is new to me. I understand that the Evo runs rich from the factory and if you lean it out it helps performance a great deal. So if that were so would you not want to use a "dry" NOS set up? And where would you have the NOS enter the system? IE at the intake, at the manifold, around the IC? Then there is the question of how much is safe, 50 shot 75 shot ECT. Any help would be great, Thanks

Pervious cars include

03 RSX Type S
04 TL Type S
03 BMW (E46) M3
02 Celica GTS
02 MDX
94 Eclipse GST

And the best so far my

EVO VIII

for NOS ontop of forced induction a dry setup is asking to blow **** up. the car will run lean, detonate and melt just about everything. you must use a wet setup.

I have a 50 wet shot by NX on my EVO, on a turbo car it's really about 70-80 hp though. Haven't hit it yet, still breaking in my new ACT clutch. Hope it holds, I have a turbo back exaust, hks evc5 set at 22, (I'll drop it a tad for the nitrous).

I would only use a 35 shot on an evo - AND ONLY with c-16 race fuel

why not the NX Intercooler spray kit? a friend of mine in a srt-4 makes 47 hp with it.. you can get the kits for around $385

Nitrous will make 11's alot easier...but it comes with risks. Make sure you run ARP head studs. Your better off to do a full-stage of bolt-ons before you consider nitrous. 300Whp is easy and 400Whp just costs a little more.

Because it will lean you out a bit. I think it's been pretty much proven that the Ntercooler makes power because nitrous is ingested into the intake rather than by cooling the intercooler. Tell your friend to fill his bottle with CO2 (has similar cooling properties to nitrous) and see how his car runs. My bet is that the CO2 will get in the intake system and make his car run like crap.

How is NO2 ( or CO2) getting into the intake by spraying it on the IC?
The hole idea is the super cooling of the charge air..dense air equals more O2 (relatively), cooler temps (higher detonation protection).
It's like having an intercooler that's 200% efficient.

It has been dyno proven 100% that ALL MEASURABLE GAINS FROM USING THIS SETUP occur as a result of nitrous ingestion. Do not use this system!!!!!!!

It was either Pruven or Buschur (or one of the other well known tuners) that tested it and came up with the results. I'm guessing it just disperses over the intercooler and gets sucked in via the air filter.

[edit] Is this proof enough for you? https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...r&pagenumber=1

Where it is proven that *some* of the nitrous gets ingested by the intake, it's not enough to talk about. The reason that the A/F Ratio leans out is because you're putting a denser air charge into the intake, in other words, more oxygen. 47 WHP in an SRT-4 with the spray... He only lost 4 WHP when they sealed of the bottom of the air box and ran the intake through the front fender, away from the Nitrous.

Here's a dyno sheet of the SRT-4 in mention...

Run 1: Stock with Stage 1 PCM, Blitz Intake, bottom of the airbox cut off.

Run 2: Same as above, NX Ntercooler Sprayer before and during run.

Run 3: Same as run 1, sprayed only BEFORE run.

A gain of 29.3WHP from spraying before and during run. A gain of 20.5WHP by freezing it before the run. These are old sheets, but the new ones do show the gains that Jadiem talked about. Here's proof that it's not the ingestion that was talked about before. How can you gain 20WHP from nitrous that is not present during the pass? Oh, and BTW... these runs were all made within 2 and a half minutes of each other.

Here's what happens when you crank up the boost and fire a nice little shot into the motor...

You should have bought the SRT-4, and you wouldn't have had that problem....
