3rd gear grinding after Clutch and Flywheel install.

So I replaced my clutch and flywheel today and took it for a ride to check for leaks. I would accelerate till 4k rpm from 1-2 then from 2-3 the 3rd gear would not go in unless rpms were at 1k and even then It will still grind a little bit but would get in 3rd gear. It does not happen to no other gear. Before the build it ran perfect. When the car is off it goes into every gear with no hesitation. What can be wrong?

The tranny took almost 3 quarts of Redline MT 90 and the clutch was bleed. The clutch was not adjusted. It is at the same height from before. It enganges faster then before.

How do I adjust it thru the pedal? Am I suppose to move it more back or higher thru the screw and nut?

It's only happening to me in third gear

how to adjust clutch pedal http://www.evomoto.com/tech_articles..._article_id=28

after you adjust the pedal(screw coming out more, i have mine set to the end of the shaft) if you still have issues, re-bleed the system.

So as I read it fixes grinding gears 99 percent of times. Tomorrow I will adjust it all the way to the end of the thread.

re-bleed the clutch, do it several of times even though you're getting a steady stream. air could still be in the system

some people forget about the air trapped in the slave cylinder itself, make sure you bleed this way:

put the closed side of a wrench on the bleeder screw and attach a bleeding tool to the screw - this can be a gatorade bottle with clear line or a fancy bleeder bottle from a store, doesn't matter (you just want something that will not allow air to be sucked back in, plus you can see the fluid coming out and visually see the air bubbles although you can hear the difference in streams as well)

1) have someone in the car ready to push the clutch in when you tell them
2) grab the clutch fork and pull it inwards
3) while holding this fork inwards, break the bleeder screw - this should squirt fluid/air out
4) have the person in the car push the clutch in - this should get all the air out of the slave.
5) re-bleed the clutch line the normal way just to make sure there is no air in the system.

****Make sure your hand is not in a position where it will get crushed because when they push the clutch in it will push the fork out, even with the bleeder screw open****

that explanation might be a little scattered, so if that doesn't make any sense let me know and I'll re-type with better structure

I Rebleed it four times and drove it this morning and nothing. Just to clarify, the clutch pedal is all the way at the top. It's adjusted at the top of the screw end.

Could it also be the way the bushings were set up on the linkages ontop of the tranny?

Perfect I will bleed them as you said. Is it normal when you have air on the system for only (1) gear not to function? All the other gears work great.

I wouldn't over think it, just try that bleeding process and if the problem persists then explore other options
