2.0LR gt3582r build questions

I have a (mostly) complete gt35r kit in my garage right now that i recieved with the car when i bought it about a year ago. i'm in the process of researching other people's builds and questions about 35r turbos and I have some mixed ideas about this build.

first off are the supporting mods. i understand that supporting mods can make or break a build. parts i either have but are not installed (or need) are listed below. other mods already installed are in my sig.

have but not installed:

- gt3582r turbo
- tubular manifold (unknown brand)
- oil/water lines
- about a foot of a t3 downpipe that was included w/ the kit (if you could call it a kit)
- FIC 1660 injectors

needed?:

- ets 3" intercooler. the one that was on the car when i bought it was advertised as a 2.5" AMS intercooler. it is not an AMS intercooler, but a XSPOWER intercooler which i can find no info on
- ets 2.5" intercooler piping. only because the Injen intercooler piping is restrictive at the connection point to the turbo
- bigger fuel pump. maybe a 340?
- gsg s2 cams

my main goal is not any power number but more decent torque in the mid-range rmp band. i think the key to that is spool time? please correct me if im wrong, missing anything, or anyone has any better ideas to help spool.

i do have evoscan and a 1.8 tantrix cable so tuning, whether it be by myself (probably not) or an email tune since the closest tuner is in texas and im in kansas, is not a problem.

How much power do you want to make?
If i was you i would do a ets 3 inc core or bigger or a br race fmic.
Walbor should be ok unless you want to go over 550

AWESOME, thanks for the advice. i plan on getting a ets 3in and ets piping to go along with it.

i guess i can always use the wally 25 and see how far i can go with it

im guessing 550hp should be plenty of power for a daily driver.

only other question i have is how to increse spool time of that 35r? should i just use a .63 hot side instad of the .82? or is there something easier/better i just dont know about?

Get the GT .82 housing. When I specify GT, be sure it is the Garret GT housing meant for the 35r.

I had a .63 on my old 2.3 car, went to the .82 GT housing and noticed very minimal difference spool time(cuz of the design of the GT housing), but a very good gain in power.

i don't think you need 1600cc injectors if you're not running e85. if you're running e85 then try 1450 i heard the 1650 and 1680 were recalled, unless you want to drop the cash for the ID2000, map 2000 or FIC 2150. they're all HI injectors and i hear really good things about the MAP and ID 2000 on both pump and e85. again if you're running e85, look into a dual 255 double pumper setup or a single 400lph wally pump. i've been reading alot on injectors and pumps lately and have spoken to quite a few vendors on here. they all recommended either 1450cc for an easy switch from e85 to pump or 2000 for some solid e85 numbers running pump only when you have to.

i have the .82 turbine housing on the turbo right now. but after seeing some dyno charts from other members here im not so sure a 35r is what i want at this point. from what iv seen 35r's are LAGGY on a 2.0L. i almost wanting something smaller with quicker spool.

heres my reasoning behind a smaller turbo. i dont take the car to the dragway, its my only daily driver, i dont want to break sh##, there are a few scca road races around town i may want to participate in, and i dont want a laggy turbo that doesnt spool until 4000rpm

please feel free to try to sway me back to the 35r

.82 on the 35r, Get some 2000fic either used a 255 or buy a 400 doublepumper and get it tuned.

& go with a complete ETS intercooler kit, but you will need a different LICP for the fitting up to the turbo.

If you want road race power/spool on a 2.0 do a 50 trim, or a stock frame variant like bbk full/green.

On the stock motor I was seeing 30psi by 4800-4900psi. Ported heads, good cams, and send that sucker off to forced performance (hta82) and you could see full boost around 4200

its good to see some results of a 35r on a 2.0L. it seems like the only motors people but those things on are al 2.3 or 2.4L

the good thing is im not limited by the stock frame requirements. i have everything to bolt up a t3 style turbo OR a stock frame stlye turbo (minus the evo 9 install kit)

on that note, i think i have narrowed it down to 4 turbos.

bbk full
fp green
gt3071r
gt3076r

any thoughts?
