Serpentine Belt fell off??? No breaks no tears??

The other night, driving in the rain, blocks away from my house my power steering started getting stiffer, battery light came on, e-brake light came on and I started overheating. Pulled over looked around the engine bay and notice my serpentine belt was completely off the pulleys Checked belt for wear and tear no rips damage or worn out teeth. Did the same thing with the pulleys nothing.

Today I put the serpentine belt back on checked all of the pulleys and noticed that my water pump pulley had some play in it.(I was able to move it side to side) Also noticed the belt as it was spinning on the water pump moving side to side.

Question: Do you guys think that the shaft play on the water pump pulley can be enough for a perfectly good serpentine belt to just fly off??? Or could it be something else? What else should I check? The tensioner looked and felt like it was pirty good to me idk.

^would it be enough. Would the movement side to side on the water pump pulley be enough to have the serpentine belt fall off?

The tensioner is good. It's a self leveling auto tensioner. Didn't see much slack at all on the serpentine belt. Water pump is working but the car is overheating

Would I need a brand new water pump? Or can I rebuild it (heard some places rebuild them).

Just because the pump spins doesn't mean its working. The blades on the inside could be gone. i have seen it before. Replace the pump with a new one.
