Clutch suggestions

Well this tax season I am looking to either rebuild my exedy twin hd clutch, or swap it for a different clutch. I kinda daily the car? If you call driving ~2 miles to work and back. But I do occasionally drive it highway(45 miles) or couple houndered miles to my former town. Ive read the twins last as long as you treat them, and read they dont last much at all. I DO plan on autocrossing a couple times next summer and am hoping to get the car prepped and try road course racing. Along with seeing the 1/4 mile once a year (map proving grounds ftw) My car is currently around 400whp on E85 and low/mid 300's on 93. But want something that will hold the power and hold 400/500 if I ever decide to further upgrade. So I made a poll to either rebuild exedy twin, or sell it and purchase another.

Thanks for input

1. Rebuild exedy twin
2. ACT HD-SS
3. ACT XT-SS
4. Other clutch (post in thread)

This thread has been beat to death you can try searching

IMO look at comp clutchs they will hold the power you make and want and won't be as expensive as a twin Good luck with your search

I had an Exedy Twin disk, it came with the car and I will die before I recommend one. If clutch lockout wont be an issue, i.e. you aren't going over 8,000 rpms, I would stick with a single disk.

Well I can say Ill be over 500 and right now 401 (conservative tune while things got broke in) I rev to 8100 and have never had lockout slipping issues or anything bad and I'm on a comp stage 2 Lucas from ER uses it as well and is over well over 500 and tracks it says it's still holding great

im actually still driving with it, it hasnt died on me yet lol. But i dont like the twin disk mainly because of the noise that thing makes. i can never drive with my music on, i hear the clutch make noise under the music and im paranoid its my engine knocking haha. And just driving the car it feels like a lot of stress on the drivetrain than my ACT 6 puck for some reason, this may just be my own mind messing with me though. As well as this, for the price, I coulda rebuilt my oldschool FP Green, bought a new ACT clutch kit and got a basic tranny rebuild down at Jacks Transmissions.

I hate the twins for that reason and to be honest I know a lot of ppl swear by them and don't get me wrong of your putting down some power no better way IMO but for your power lvls I would suggest something different like the comp stage 2 or even 3 not exactly sure on tq ratings but I know it's enough for your set up like I said the guys at ER run them and they put out nice power check with chris @no limitmototorsports hands done best price and he can set you up with a good one for your goals

the problem with the single disks isnt the power levels. single disk clutches can take any power level, its just the lockout issues at higher RPMs

Yeah my tq on e85 is around 390. My goal is 400/450whp with 400wtq. Should be a nicely set, fun dd at those levels.

I'm in the same bind. I'm down to an ACT set up or Competition Stage 2 for my build. Not making near the amount of power as you are though, so far just have intake/exhaust/licp.
I would prefer to go with a Comp stage 2 but can't find too many reviews on them for our cars, except the very few who have them. Doesn't seem to be a popular clutch set up for our cars?

Any ways, I know this isn't comparing apples to apples but I upgraded to a Competition Stage 2 on my naturally aspirated RSX Type-S. Had about 20k on it before I sold the car and it grabbed strong like first day after install. I tracked the car and abused the hell out of it (double clutch downshifting, heel toe, aggressive clutch popping up-shifts, etc.) So I had a good experience with them on my old car.

Buying a clutch for the Evo on Friday, probably be a CC stage 2, i'll leave feed back.

Aw man he's talking about the CC Twin Disk (Version 2), not the CC Stage 2. Im trying to find reviews on the CC Stage 2 still.

I don't have money for the CC Twin.
