It's hard to recommend a clutch without knowing how much torque the car is making. To find out that, you have to put it on a dyno. Since you can't, maybe if you list the modifications the car has, we can get a rough idea how much torque the car will make and then suggest an appropriate clutch for this car.

If you're not sure, you can error on the side of getting an aggressive clutch and hope it's above the amount of torque the car will make. If you put in a clutch that's too weak, you'll be replacing it far sooner than you would like.

I received a quote of $1700 for the Exedy twin disk. Plus 9 hours @$80/hour plus $40 to resurface the flywheel. Is it that much better than $660 for the ACT? He does want to raise the HP/torque in the future so we can take it to NE Dragway in Epping, NH. If it is that much better, I will talk him into it while he is living on base. He should be joining the forum soon. I'm sure he will have many questions.

That clutch isn't cheap, but it's a very worry free piece when installed and adjusted properly. You can find them from vendors on this site for a couple hundred dollars less than you were quoted if you search around and do a little leg work. The labor sounds about right, it's $675 at my local shop here in CA. They should not be charging you to resurface the flywheel as that particular clutch (Exedy) has an integrated flywheel built into the clutch itself. You would only need to resurface the flywheel if you decide to go with a single disc clutch like the one from ACT.

I would suggest staying away from ACT, there are too many stories on this forum of people having issues with their clutches. Some claim they were issues caused by improper installation, but would you really want to even take the risk? Stick with Exedy, Quarter Master and Clutch Masters if you want to avoid any issues in the future.

Also, look into picking up an OEM replacement throw out bearing and have that done while you're in there. You might also want to consider a fork stop, which is a very inexpensive part that helps to prevent the clutch from popping out due to hard shifts. This can be an issue when running multi-plate clutches.

Hey Wayne, glad everything has worked out with the CEL issue. Alex is a good guy and a good friend of mine. I'll be going down there on Monday to have my new setup retuned. This will be the first time I've been to the new place in Hudson.

Fort Lewis? RC South? I got back about a year ago, and on our way out of theater we had a bunch of 2ID guys coming. Glad you're back alright, and hope everything works out with the car.

I'm "sort of" local to your uncle in NH, so if you guys ever need anything let me know!
