Engine Rebuild
Engine Rebuild
My engine completely lost compression on #3 and #1 is at 58% I have 6,000 to work on it and 7,000 if i really need to. Since they have to open it up and see whats wrong with it, would I be able to upgrade the parts for that price? Or am I looking at a lot more money even if core is still good?
Thanks, no I'm getting a shop to do it I dont really have the time or the resources to do it myself. I was looking at getting a stock engine from ebay or dsmgraveyard, and just build that one piece by piece since its my daily right now.
I just did this... twice, with a budget similar at first, but that budget quadrupled..
First time around i pulled the motor myself and took it to the shop to build, with my own parts, labor was cheap, but they did the clearances wrong, so 900 miles later my motor jumped timing and borked everything, well, my pistons, valves, oil cooler, front case, bearings etc...
This time my bill is way beyond that, but i had a different shop pull the motor and do everything. Its very possible to do it under $7000 but if you're having someone else do it, it'll be very close, most shops you're looking around $2200-3000 to pull the motor and put it back in/Tear it down.
Be sure to take your time and don't cut corners!! If it takes an extra month or two, its worth it!

it's not right down the street, but check out Spec-Ops Motorsports (vendor on here). plenty of guys bring their cars up from southern NC, and SC to them.
As you can see in my sig, they built my motor and I couldn't be happier.

lol, you don't want to know, and I don't know exactly... But if you mean just the engine, if I could remember that it wouldn't apply anyway. Mine used a new core (4G64), Manley crank, blah blah, lots of expensive stuff because of how I abuse the car racing. The only thing under my hood that was there before the build is probably the MAF sensor, valve cover, and LICP.
Shoot them a PM or give them a call and tell them what you're looking for. If you want to buy lots of crazy internals, they'll do it for you. But if you want a budget rebuild, tell them that and see what they can do.

I don't want to hijack this thread and turn it into a sales pitch, but I DO want to say I think your budget is solid and I wish you the best of luck with your project. If there is anything I can do to help, please feel free to let me know!

Before you go with dsmgraveyard, you will want to check out some of there other (failed) builds.
Or Just flat out advoid them.
I certainly don't want to talk down about another shop under any circumstance, but I think you will find our engine builds to be A) affordable and competitively priced and B) backed by a good track record for both performance and reliability and C) backed by our dedication to customer service.

The below kit is only $999 if you do not get a crank, and it includes many key essentials to a internal rebuild, but you have to factor in, front case, gaskets, head studs etc etc. it all adds up over time

For $7k you could buy a built short block and do it yourself. All you would have to do is remove your motor. You could even then take your new short block and the head off of your old block to a reputable shop on here and have the reassemble your longblock. I'd say call a shop of your choice from on here and talk to them about your budget and recommendations.
