driveshaft noise rear...???

hey guys recently bought a 2006 evo rs and am getting an odd sound from the rear part of the driveshaft.. it sounds almost sounds like very light grinding/ tire sound/ spinning. it goes away when under load and is mainly heard when just cruising ..
so i started by gettin new tires.. no change
did rear diff fluid, front diff fluid n tcase fluid.. did the diaqueen and redline for fluids.
All old fluid removed was fairly clean, no metal chunks or nething like that.

still have the sound and am wondering if ne 1 else has encountered this??

and as u all prob know the RS has no sound dampening meterial so u hear almost everything..
ne advice will help
driveshaft is stock.. i have an act clutch, and custom 4" exhaust wit cat n muffler.
other mods r simple stuff for now n none of which would effect or cause the sound im hearing.
let me know thanks!

I've got the same problem. You especially hear it when you turn and there is sand on the road like the rear wheels are spinning. And its got a bump feeling in the back like your not getting full turn radius. I was told its the diff in the rear. Its normal because it's an awd to do that.

no changin the fluids did not.. n like i said the rear diff fluid was clean.. no shavings or chunks or nething.. so im thinken of taken it apart n seeing how the gears themselves look then if there ok n clean mayb doing a driveshaft bushing kit..
i wana know if some1 has had this problem n solved it lol

A whine that comes and goes with load, if that is what you are hearing, while not normal, is usually of little consequence unless loud or getting louder. It means the mesh between the ring and pinion isn't shimmed quite right.

Hmmm sounds a bit like what Im going through now..I hear a light rustling/scraping/scratching sound under the rear of my car it is consistent with the speed of the car (faster/slower) I was told to check the rear wheel bearings and inspect the rear rotors as they haven't been changed & the car was sitting for a bit...

1. Does the sound get more audible during left or right turns? In my case its the same no change...

2. Can you take a video of the noise? Im sure that will help with troubleshooting... in my case the noise is so low I dont believe a camera/camcorder would pic it up from inside the car

I plan on checking this weekend Ill report my findings back once I am able to locate the noise with the car on a lift & in gear....

I get a pinion area noise from mine as well. I really think it was always there but as I have removed the interior it has gotten louder. I've had it apart to install the 12 plate and every thing looks fine. Lash, contact pattern bearings etc. all look good.
These cars are just noisy. Bushings will only make it noisier.

Noise from the rear diff while turning is probably LSD chatter. Are you running OEM lube?
