Arp 2000 hardware limit
So i am in the middle of rebuilding my motor a 10.5.1 2.3 i am looking to purchase rods i am leaning towards manley turbo tuffs but wondering if i should upgrade to the arp 625 rod bolts ?
Ive searched evom and googled the hell out of it so far ive found one post by map performance where they have said they have used the arp 2000 bolts in there 1053hp drag car and thats about it. i am thinking buschur uses them in his motors to but not 100% sure when should you upgrade ? i no rods bolts are rated by hp and rpms but is there even a need for the arp 625 bolts.

the Manly 300m rod uses the 3/8 Arp 2000 bolts and they say that rod is good for 1300hp and 1500hp with the 625+ bolts how is that the same bolt have different ratings in different rods from the same manufacture.

Thanks n2oiroc I ran across that info as well that would make it seem as if we are over using the bolts in a lot of our cars I am going to order them with my rods because its not much of a price diffrence for the piece of mind.

625 has a yield strength of 260-280 ksi where ARP2000 has a yield strength of 220ksi. 625 is 17%-27% stronger depending on which figure you use. Use 15% though and if 3/8" ARP2000 can handle 325HP (1300HP/4 rods) then 625 can handle 1500HP.
But RPM and piston/rod weight is likely the limiting factor of a rod bolt anyway, not HP.
