Cam Installation - Installation Prices?
Doing it yourself: Priceless.
Seriously though, 9 to 10 hours seems kind of high. I'm thinking it's more like 3 to 4 hours for an experienced mechanic. Heck, a spoon thumbed monkey like me could probably do it in 5 hours.

sup bro! your in the Tone too. i would check maximum velocity on eckard* road or precission R near the airport. i can't spell good but boardwalk is the street name for Precission R. *don't know if i spelled eckard rd. right?
maximum velocity has been around the scene almost aslong as me. they have done some really good work. talk to tim over there, and work on the price he is neg. on everything. presisson R deal with turbo's day in day out. they know their stuff overthere.

MZM in Austin quoted me as high as $685 for 9-10 hours of work. I know I can do much better but want it done through a reputable/reliable shop in the San Antonio/Austin area. Any suggestions?

Well I paid 300$ at Pruven and most people say they have not been timed correctly. So much forme thinking Pruven is any good. 300$ is a lot for cams, esp when it took them 2 hrs or less. But when 2 other actual tuners say my cam timing may be off and now I have to pay for them to be checked, it hurts!! Esp when I drove 3 hours to get them installed. The only good thing about Pruven is Al tunes there, other than that they suck!! Yea, Pruven performance in Connecticut.
Dark,
Thatll be cool but I think it would be easier just to get the ones in town first. Where should we hang out tho? How many other evo owners do you know?
BY the way, wheres this guy who wants cams installed? We totally hijacked his thread!

From what I know and have heard about Pruven I doubt it that they are timed incorrectly. WHy dont you check it out yourself? All you need is to take of the passenger wheel, turn the auxillary belt tensioner w a 1/2 inch drive torquewrench and stick a screwdriver in the hole, and open the cam cover. Turn your crank w the torque wrench (bar) till you get to TDC.
If its really off timing, Pruven better give you some free stuff for their F-up!!!

actually it depends how it is done...there is a right way, and a cheesy way. Riht way is about 9-11 hours depending who is doing it, and the cheesy way is about 4 hours. It's not worth the risk of snapping a cam (seen it happen MANY times) or getting something else wrong (ie not replacing timing belt) IMHO.
