Whinebro

Per some posts I have been reading it seems the IX fuel pump is good to about 350 hp which is somewhat my goal

I would like the option of adding a Walbro if necessary, but have heard horror storys of the whine (youtube). I understand DW300 is out there but this is for the Walbro only

I would like to see HOW MANY HAVE QUITE WALBRO'S and how many have loud one's ( I know this is subjective but I think we know what loud means)

out of these how many are NORMAL, MODIFIED OR REWIRED & how many miles have they been on??

BTW where can I buy a genuine one, as I was reading chinese knock off are everywhere

The only time I would hear the whine is when I turn the key. But I have an exhaust and that's louder than the whine, so all I hear is the exhaust..

The Walbro's in my Buschur Double Pumper are quiet. I ran the OEM IX unit though making 340whp on a DJ for a while just fine (if that's all the power your interested in).

I've had 2 Walbro pumps. Quiet at first and then in the hot summer month buzz like crazy at stop lights. People in my car always asked what it was. I finally swapped over to the aeromotive 340 and it is very quiet.

Note: both previous Wally's were drop in, no rewire.

Good luck on your choice.

THe only time I really hear mine is when I remove the rear bench seat. But my evo is noisy anyhow, I also have TS driveshaft carrier support bushings, TRE max lock with Redline NS, and carbotech pads. THe combination of sounds draws looks when I pit in after each session.haha.

With friction modifier in the diff, street pads, and the rear seat installed I can hear it but its muffled. On some days it does seem like its louder than others.

The variable voltage of the Evo fuel system really cuts down on pump noise compared to a rewired DSM running 14v static. Dont even worry about it and drop t it in.

i only hear mines if im at idle with the radio off. the alternator whine coming thru my radio is louder than my walbro. i guess it all depends on ur preferance too. my cousin has the same pump in his evo and he cant even hear it but when i go in either his or my car i can hear it quite clearly. its really not that bad though.

Mine came from the previous owner, so I know it has over 41k (that I put on it) to it's name, it is drop in, and only gets loud during the summer. It screams after a 20 minute track session though. I will be getting an aeromotive 340 soon though.

Why? Unless you have more mods than your sig says there's no reason to upgrade. We do 425 on E85 with a walbro on my old talon.

I think he's referring to the fact that it makes noise not necessarily that it needs more fuel

1. I really don't like the whine of the pump in the summer and at the track.
2. I don't know how many miles are on the pump overall
3. Yes I do have more mods than my sig, they are just not on the car atm.
4. I will be switching to E-85 and don't trust walbro's record with it
5. I am gathering the parts I need over time and learning as I go until I get my end goal, which is a gutted and caged TT/W2W dream soon to become reality
